Diamante Powell of Yonkers pleaded guilty on Tuesday to second-degree attempted murder for shooting his victim during an early morning incident on Prospect Street in Yonkers, leaving him hospitalized.
According to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 26, 2016, Powell shot his victim in his lower extremities several times as he attempted to run away from him following an altercation. Powell’s victim underwent several surgeries and “has a lasting serious physical injury.” Scarpino noted that Powell and his victim were familiar with one another.
Powell was indicted by a grand jury in April. He is expected to receive eight and a half years in prison when he is sentenced on Jan. 10 next year.
